BOSTON – The Boston Renegades have released their schedule for the 2017 Women’s Football Alliance season.
The Renegades start the season on the road, facing the Philadelphia Phantomz on April 8 and archrivals the D.C. Divas on April 22. On Saturday April 29 they return to Boston for their home opener, when they take on the Montreal Blitz at 6 p.m. at Catholic Memorial’s O’Connor Stadium in West Roxbury, Mass.
The Renegades will play all four regular-season home games at O’Connor Stadium, as well as any home playoff games. Season ticket packages and group ticket sales are available for purchase now at bostonrenegadesfootball.com. Single-game tickets may be purchased at the stadium on game day.
Following the home opener, the homestand continues with a return match against D.C. on May 6 and another key tilt against the Pittsburgh Passion on May 13. The Renegades take to the road to face the Chicago Force on May 20, and come full circle for a homefield finale against the Phantomz on June 3.
2017 Season Preview
- The Renegades aim to contend for the national title after falling one game short of the league championship in 2016. The W Bowl will be played on July 22 in Imperial, Penn.
- Quarterback Allison Cahill will return to the field after recovering from a clavicle injury that ended her 2016 season in Week 8. Prior to the injury, Cahill was in MVP contention and set a new milestone in sports by becoming the first quarterback to amass 100 career victories playing exclusively in women’s tackle football leagues.
- The WFA season will break during the playoffs to accommodate the IFAF Women’s World Championship. Several Renegades have been named to the U.S. Women’s National Team, which will compete in the tournament.
- The Renegades have partnered with Catholic Memorial School to play all home games in 2017 at CM’s James R. O’Connor Stadium in West Roxbury. The Renegades previously made their home field at Somerville’s Dilboy Stadium.
