PLAYER INFORMATION

Shannon Singletary

Hailing from Brockton, Mass., Shannon Singletary works in law enforcement as a court officer. Joining the Renegades is a part of her personal comeback story.

“Growing up I would play football with my family, not tackle of course, but I always loved being counted out because of my size and because I was young. My brother played football and so did my dad and I wanted to be like them. So I took up rugby in college. Rugby was a different than football but it had all the same elements that I wanted out of a sport.

“But then I got hurt pretty bad and couldn’t play for some time. It crushed me and I thought I wouldn’t play another physical sport again. So when I got better, I started playing flag football. While there I had the pleasure of meeting Ben who told me about the Renegades. And I’m happy he did cause now it gives me the opportunity to challenge myself and have another ‘sports family’.”

As a member of the UMASS Dartmouth women’s rugby team, Singletary attended college nationals, which is describes as one of her favorite athletic accomplishments. While in college, she also competed in basketball and earned honors in track, two sports she excelled at while attending Brockton High School.
