Women’s Football Team Make Super Bowl (Daily Item)

REVERE — July 10, 2017 — The Boston Renegades defeated the Chicago Force Saturday night at Della Russo Field, 47-33, to earn a trip to Women’s Football Alliance Super Bowl in two weeks in Pittsburgh.

Among the coaches for the Renegades is Lynn Classical graduate Rasi Chau. The Alliance is considered the premier women’s football league in the country.

The Renegades jumped out to a 21-0 lead after one quarter. Quarterback Allison Cahill ran for one TD and hit Stephanie Pascual with a 28-yard pass for another. Angela Pascual ran for the other one.

Chicago scored two touchdowns to close the lead to 21-14 before Cahill hit Whitney Zelee with an 11-yarder to make it 27-14. Zelee then rushed 62 yards to make it 33-14, Boston, before Chicago, again, scored two quick touchdowns to close the lead to 33-26.

However, Cahill hit Adrienne Smith to make the score 39-26, and after the Force closed to within six (39-33) in the fourth quarter, Zelee finished it off with a 1-yard plunge that, with the 2-point conversion, accounted for the final score.
