A New Milestone in Women’s Sports and Football History

May 16, 2016

Boston’s Cahill becomes the first quarterback to reach 100 career victories playing exclusively in women’s tackle football leagues

BOSTON  – The Women’s Football Alliance announced via social media yesterday that Renegades quarterback Allison Cahill is the first quarterback to reach 100 career victories playing exclusively in women’s tackle football leagues.

“We are excited to announce a new milestone in women’s football history,” read the statement on Facebook. “After Saturday’s win, the Boston Renegades celebrated not only a great team victory, but also Allison Cahill’s 100 th career victory as a starting quarterback, the first quarterback to reach this milestone playing for women’s football teams. Cahill joins several players from the game’s rich history who have collected 100 victories on the gridiron. It is fulfilling to see that the tradition of women’s football deepens with every game that is played.”

“It is not something I can take personal credit for,” said Cahill. “I literally can’t do anything without my teammates. We’ve had great coaches, great teams, and great organizations whose work together culminated in reaching this milestone. It speaks to the tradition of Boston Women’s Football; it means a lot because it is something we all can share and take pride in.”

On Saturday, May 14, Cahill marshalled her team to a 51-32 road victory over the Pittsburgh Passion, the reigning champions of the Independent Women’s Football League who are owned in part by Pro Football Hall of Famer and Steelers legend Franco Harris. With the win, Cahill set this new milestone for both women’s sports and the sport of tackle football.

Cahill and the Boston Renegades (5-1) next face the Chicago Force (5-1) at 7 p.m. this Saturday, May 21 at Dilboy Stadium in Somerville, Mass.
