PLAYER INFORMATION

Erin Truex (2016)

Erin Truex always found a way to use her high-spirited energy throughout her life, first playing street hockey “every single day” in her hometown of Oxnard, Calif. She was a four-year varsity basketball player at Newbury Park (Calif.) Adventist Academy, who lead her league in blocked shots in her junior year, while winning tournament awards along the way. She also had her first taste of competitive football, playing on an undefeated flag football team.

Being a nonprofit executive in addition to a wife and new mother, Truex says playing football for the Renegades “has been crucial for my sanity. It is a consistent and great place for me to channel my aggression. I have a partner that understands how valuable the sport is to me and that means a lot.” Erin also says she is excited for her daughter to be exposed to “badass women in sports…It’s a really exciting time to be raising a daughter.”

She takes inspiration from California state senator, Holly J. Mitchell, while working for her as lobbying intern in the state Assembly. “I was always in awe of her intelligence and her thoughtful approach to legislation,” says Truex.
